I’m a longtime user of Columbia hiking boots, and the Coremic Ridge 2 boots are exactly what I’ve come to expect from Columbia – good price (usually available at a great price if you look around, I found these for on clearance at a local shoe store), comfortable after you break them in, and perhaps most importantly built to last. I will note up front that I don’t get to do loads of hiking, so these function as occasional dedicated hikers (maybe 6 – 8 dedicated day hiking trips annually) and frequent casual & recreational wear. If you’re more than a recreational hiker, you would probably want to look for something waterproof unlike these Coremic Ridge 2 boots. That said here is my take on these…

Amazing hike/hunt/work shoe, December 22, 2011

I’ve tested this shoe for a couple months and it’s a great quality shoe, especially for the price. Handles on rock, mud, sand, and dirt just great. I broke my pair in during a deer hunt here in New Mexico. I originally bought them for just hunting but since it’s been snowing here in my town, I’ve been using them a lot more. They are not a cold weather shoe, around 35 degrees my toes began to get cold. I would suggest thinsulate socks or wool socks be worn with this boot if you plan on trekking in colder weather.

They are very breathable and water proof. When walking in snow, they are really grippy and don’t slip. They also handle just fine in thick mud and wet dirt. I have been working security detail at a pecan orchard and these shoes have done phenomenally, even after heavy rain mucked up the place.

My favorite thing about this shoe is they are very comfortable to wear. I weigh around 300 pounds and they still work fine for me when I hike and hunt. My last…

great deal, June 2, 2011

im giving 5 stars because of the price. i paid including shipping and received the boots in 8 days (im in afghanistan!). boots are as good quality as my over 0 KEEN boots. Only complaint is they could be more breathable. all in all great deal, good intermediate to hot weather boot.
